1. Christmas Story Lamp

The Leg Lamp from the 1983 film A Christmas Story is arguably the most iconic lamp in existence. Unfortunately the original lamp was destroyed during filming but according to Amazon, every year fans buy enough replicas that one can stack them on top of each other and exceed the height of Mt. Everest.

2. Aladdin’s Lamp

This well-known lamp is home to the late Robin Williams’ beloved character Genie from the 1992 film Aladdin. According to the film, Genie spent thousands of years trapped inside the lamp until he is rescued by Aladdin. As a reward he is granted 3 wishes.

3. Pixar Lamp (Luxo Jr.)

Named Luxo Jr. This lamp came to life in a 1986 two minute short film produced by Pixar. Luxo Jr was Pixar’s first animation in which Luxo plays with a ball that it accidently deflates. Since then Luxo Jr has been featured in Pixar’s logo and in 2014 Luxo Jr. was deemed “historically significant” by the library of congress.

4. Statue of Liberty

This 225 ton lady stands over 300 feet tall in New York harbor. This statue is a symbol for American liberty and the torch she holds lights the way to freedom.

5. Lava Lamp

Invented in 1948 the Lava Lamp has survived the test of time. Films such as Doctor Who and Austin Powers helped drive sales of Lava Lamps in the late 60’s and early 70’s. There is currently one on display in the Smithsonian. The most expensive Lava Lamp sold cost $15,000.

6. Singing in the Rain Lamp Post

This iconic lamppost was featured in the film Singing in the Rain with Gene Kelly in 1952. A replica can currently be found in Disneyland. The original lamppost was stolen and the whereabouts are unknown.

7. Oval Office Lamps

Inside the famous Oval Office can be found two blue lamps created by Christopher Spitzmiller. These handmade Prussian lamps are appraised at over $2,300 each. These blue lamps add a hint of color to a mostly neutral and bland color scheme.

8. Bat-Signal

This modified search light with a stylized emblem of a bat affixed to the light was used by the Gotham City Police as a means of contacting the Batman. Since its first appearance in 1940 this search light has become a symbol of safety and heroism throughout the DC comic

9. R2D2 Lamp

As one of the only characters appearing in all the Star Wars movies to date, R2D2 is one of the most recognized robots throughout the world. This R2-D2 desk lamp is sure to light up whatever nerdy thing you’re currently working on.

10. Narnia Lamp Post

From CS Lewis’ “The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe” this Lamp-post was a major landmark in the country of Narnia. Resembling a London streetlamp, it stood in the middle of the forest and shone day and night. It became a beacon of faith and hope in the battles of good vs evil.
